Course Description
Group KAP Module 3 expands the facilitator’s capacity to navigate advanced interpersonal, somatic, and ethical dimensions of group ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. In groups working with non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC), emotional intensity, interpersonal projection, and trauma activation often surface with greater immediacy and depth, requiring skillful, attuned, and ethically grounded facilitation.
This module begins by exploring embodied approaches to group work, including the therapeutic use of presence, attunement, and touch. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to support individuals and groups somatically during NOSC states, while maintaining safety, consent, professionalism, and trauma-informed sensitivity.
The training also addresses challenges related to leadership shadow, power dynamics, and ethical integrity. Group NOSC work can open portals for profound transformation, but it can also amplify dependency, idealization, and projection. Facilitators will examine how to recognize and avoid common leadership pitfalls, including charismatic overreach, unconscious enactments, and dynamics that risk replicating cultic patterns.
Trauma-oriented group facilitation is another essential focus. Participants will learn to identify typical dynamics in trauma groups, apply grounding and stabilization techniques, and support individuals who may carry heightened vulnerability or reactivity into NOSC experiences. Particular attention is given to the scapegoat phenomenon—its origins, manifestations in group process, and clinical strategies for working with it both in conventional group therapy and in the intensified environment of group KAP.
Finally, the module supports facilitators in strengthening their collaborative functioning as a leadership team. Participants will reflect on how co-leaders navigate projections, maintain alignment, and model relational transparency and repair for the group.
Teachings are designed for healthcare professionals as well as the general public. Healthcare professionals will be able to integrate these advanced tools into their work with clients and patients in group KAP and other NOSC-facilitated settings. Attending Group KAP Training Module 1 is a pre-requisite, and attending Group KAP Training Module 2 is recommended prior to Group KAP Training Module 3, but not required.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe embodied approaches to group facilitation and evaluate when and how touch may be used appropriately and ethically.
- Explain key leadership vulnerabilities in NOSC settings and identify strategies to maintain grounded, ethical, non-hierarchical facilitation.
- Analyze the scapegoat phenomenon and describe methods for supporting individuals and groups when this dynamic arises.
- Discuss how trauma activation and projection may intensify in NOSC states and implement strategies to support group cohesion and safety.
